General Scholarship Rule (GSR): General Scholarship Rule (GSR): A student’s combined federal grants, state grants, and Liberty aid are not permitted to exceed the combined cost of actual tuition and Tier 2 room and standard board charges ($8,500 per year for 2015-16).  The total of federal grants, state grants and Liberty aid cannot exceed the cost of actual tuition for students who are not charged for housing.  The GSR calculation for commuter students only includes the cost of tuition.  If the combined aid exceeds the total cost as specified, Liberty aid will be reduced to resolve the excess aid. The Federal Pell Grant is not included as a factor in the GSR for Resident students.
Liberty University Continuing Education and Dependent Grant in Aid educational benefits are not eligible for use in the online Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program, COM Doctor of Osteopathy, School of Law Juris Doctor, undergraduate or graduate certificate programs, or the online Graduate of Theology (ThG) program.
A valid FAFSA must be on file for each year before an account will be awarded for most institutional aid.  If selected for Verification, you must have completed the process and have a verified FAFSA on file.  More details regarding the Verification policy and how aid is affected can be read here.
For recipients of institutional aid (and discounts), such as Continuing Education, Dependent Grant-In-Aid, and Resident FCA/LCA/Temple/TCS, the tuition scholarship will be reduced by any amount received from federal and state grant amounts. Please see notation above regarding the General Scholarship Rule.
Awards that cover the majority of direct costs (i.e. DGIA, Continuing Education, Private School Affiliation Scholarships, Valedictorian/Salutatorian, etc.) do not allow for stacking with other Liberty aid sources such as the Liberty Champion or New Student Book Dollars.
Most resident scholarships are for prospective, full-time undergraduate students unless stated otherwise in the award eligibility criteria below.
Liberty discounts are applied beginning with the term in which a student is approved and are not awarded retroactively to prior terms of enrollment.
Liberty University reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of any scholarship at any time at its discretion, as well as suspend or terminate any scholarships.
