How to apply for an Australia Awards Scholarship

Before you apply:

• Check the open and close dates for your country, and select your country of citizenship/residency from the list of participating countries for specific information on eligibility, priority areas and how to apply. See the participating country page for opening and closing dates.
• If you intend to apply, you must read the Scholarships Policy Handbook. The handbook provides information including general eligibility requirements, selection processes, entitlements and awardee responsibilities. Note that the department may revise and update the handbook at any time without notice.
• Some countries encourage and allow you to apply online (only open until 30 April 2016) while others require hard-copy applications. See your participating country profile for more information

Once you have checked the opening and closing dates for your country, refer to the Participating Country Profile to see which method of application they will accept.

How to apply

Applying online

Go to the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS). When you register online, you will be required to answer some questions to establish your eligibility. You will then be given a unique registration number, username and password.

You do not need to submit your application immediately. You can update your draft application form and supporting documentation until 30 April 2016, (or an earlier date specified on the relevant participating country profile).
Once submitted, your application cannot be changed. We strongly advise applicants applying online to do so well before the closing date. OASIS experiences peak usage in the days leading up to the closing date and applicants may experience delays.

Applying by mail

If you are unable to submit your application online, you can apply by mail. Please check your participating country profile for contact details to obtain a hardcopy application form and any other templates such as referee reports (if applicable).

American Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship 2016

The AVMA, in partnership with Zoetis, is offering 10, $1,000 scholarships for AVMA members interested in developing their leadership potential at the 2016 Veterinary Leadership Conference (VLC) in Chicago Jan. 7-10. To qualify for the scholarships, applicants must fall into at least one of the following categories:

Recent Graduate/Emerging Leader: An individual who graduated from veterinary school within the past 15 years.
Underrepresented in Veterinary Leadership: Veterinarians from a demographic, geographic or socioeconomic group or practice type that is underrepresented in U.S. veterinary leadership.
The deadline for application is Nov. 18, 2015. Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified by Dec. 1, 2015. You can download the scholarship application here.

Deakin Scholarship: A life-changing opportunity in Australia

What began as a chance turned into a life-changing experience for me. I always wanted to be a journalist, finally this dream will come true.
I remember being in grade four, when I pointed at a journalist on the television screen I said, ‘I want to be a journalist when I grow up.’ My Dad smiled and said, ‘I am sure you will be.’
But growing up we tend to become more  ‘practical’, we tend to think the way we are taught to think. And the same happened with me. Slowly ‘practicality’ started to outweigh my dreams and I thought of doing law. I guess destiny had other plans.

It was my mother who came across the advertisement on TV. The advertisement was for high school students to apply for the chance to study an undergraduate degree at Deakin University with a full scholarship. She encouraged me to apply. Seeing that the scholarship was for only one student, I quickly lost hope. Nonetheless, I filled the form in.

The scholarship was jointly sponsored by NDTV and Deakin University. Staff from both organisations were on the selection panel, along with some other external experts. The shortlisting procedure for the scholarship winner began; starting with telephonic interviews and then on to the next round of being evaluated on the basis of our extra-curricular activities and academics.
Based on the above, we were informed that only 16 candidates from the entire country were going to be chosen. I will never forget how I used to cling on to my phone the entire day waiting for a call, and the excitement in my voice when they finally did.
28 May 2015 was the day or D-DAY to be more precise. It was the day the fate of one of the 16 candidates was about to change.

Here I was – a girl with dreams of being a journalist – right inside the studios of NDTV, a national TV broadcasting network

Entering the NDTV studios, being a part of the atmosphere I always dreamt to be a part of, that feeling I cannot really be put into words. Here I was – a girl with dreams of being a journalist – right inside the studios of NDTV, a national TV broadcasting network. My eyes kept growing bigger with astonishment with each step, and I had a big smile that just wouldn’t go away.
The selection was a two-stage process. The first stage involved an interview and the showcasing of a self-made presentation of our achievements. Based on that, only five students were selected for the final round. The final round included a group discussion on various topics.
And then, on the basis of how all of us did on both the stages, one student was selected.
Each and every student that had made it to the 16-member shortlist was so brilliant. Just being in their company was such a learning experience. I feel blessed to have gotten that opportunity.
Winning this scholarship fulfilled my dream of studying in one of the best universities in the world, and the icing on the cake is that I get to study the course I have always wanted to study and fulfill my lifelong dream of being a journalist.

Australia is such a beautiful, diverse and student-friendly country. Today it is one of the fastest growing economies and provides one of the best atmospheres for international students. There are ample opportunities for students to grow and make the most of their talents. It is because of these reasons and more that I chose Australia as the country to study in.
Deakin University is a young university and yet, has proved its mark on the entire world. The opportunity to be a student of this university is a great honour.
The whole reason I wanted to win this scholarship was to make my parents proud without letting it get too heavy on their pockets.
I am looking forward to this new experience and promise to make the most of it.

NDTV-Deakin Scholarships 2016

NDTV has been a pioneer in the Indian TV journalism space and has often leveraged the power of its reach to bring about positive changes in society and to solve real world problems through dedicated and innovative programing.

Oxford-Indira Gandhi Graduate Scholarships
Up to two full scholarships are available for applicants who are either ordinarily resident in India or have previously studied at an Indian higher education institution. You must be applying for one of the eligible master’s courses listed below or for a DPhil course with proposed research in the eligible areas of study.

The following master’s courses are eligible: MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management; MSc in Contemporary India; Master of Public Policy; MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management; MSc in Environmental Change and Management; MPhil in Development Studies; and Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL).
For DPhil courses, your proposed area of study must be relevant to the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development's agenda of interdisciplinary research on sustainable development and India. The Centre focuses on a series of impact themes: food and water security; energy; environmental conservation; medical research and healthcare; law; governance; and gender (e.g. the empowerment of women). Independent proposals on any India-related theme which fits within the overall aims of the Centre will be considered.
The scholarship covers course fees, college fees and a grant for living costs for full-time students of at least £14,057 (students on part-time courses will receive a study support grant instead). Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course. Somerville College and the University have established these scholarships with the generous support of the Government of India.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, relevance of studies to the Centre’s interdisciplinary aims, understanding of the development challenges faced by India, and leadership and entrepreneurial potential.
The scholarship is only tenable at Somerville College. All eligible applicants will be considered for this scholarship, regardless of which college (if any) you state as your preference on the graduate application form. However, successful applicants will be transferred to Somerville College in order to take up the scholarship.
There is no separate application process for this scholarship: to be considered, submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline (8 or 22 January 2016, depending on your course). American University Scholarships
American University (AU) awards a limited number of generous partial merit scholarships to academically-qualified incoming international first-year undergraduate students.  No need-based financial aid is available to international students. The merit scholarship range from U.S.$6,000 to U.S.$25,000 per academic year (renewable subject to conditions).  The University also offers the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship Program which awards scholarships to high-achieving international students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at the University and who are dedicated to positive civic and social change. Amherst College Scholarships
Amherst College currently runs a need-based financial aid program that provides assistance to financially needy international students.  Once you have been admitted, your financial need is determined. A financial aid award that is equal to your need will then be offered.  The award is sometimes called an “aid package” because it may include both self-help (employment) and gift aid (scholarships and grants).

Arkansas University Scholarships
International students are eligible to apply about 10 scholarships offered at the University including the Chancellor’s Scholarship and the General University Scholarships.

Berea College Scholarships
At Berea College, every admitted student is awarded a 4-year, tuition scholarship. Nearly all of their students receive additional aid for these costs.

Clark University Scholarships
Clark University offers the Global Scholars Program which are open to High school students who are NOT permanent residents or citizens of the United States, as well as U.S. citizens/permanent residents who reside overseas and will complete their entire secondary school education outside the U.S.   A scholarship of no less than $15,000 (renewable, subject to conditions) and a guaranteed $2,500 taxable stipend for a paid internship or research assistantship taken for academic credit during the summer following the sophomore or junior year is included with the award.

Colby-Sawyer College Scholarships
International students are eligible for merit-based financial aid offered by Colby-Sawyer College. The scholarship value increases based on academic ability (measured in GPA) and range from $15,000 up to $24,000 per year. The college does not meet full financial need.

Columbia College Scholarships
Columbia College offers about 20 scholarships and awards to outstanding international students. The awards are one time cash grants or 25%- 100% tuition reduction.

Concordia College Scholarships
Concordia prizes the contributions international students make on campus and is pleased to provide partial financial assistance to international students. The International Student Scholarship is based on academic ability and family need, amounting up to $25,000 per year.

Cornell University Scholarships
Cornell has a limited amount of funding available for international undergraduates, only 30-40 scholarships are awarded to students in each entering class. The scholarships are either partial or full, based on the selected student’s need.

Dartmouth College Scholarships
Dartmouth College meets the demonstrated need of all admitted undergraduates, including those from other countries. Dartmouth College has scholarships and loans available to international students, which includes an allowance for travel to the U.S..

East Tennessee State University
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) offers the International Students Academic Merit Scholarship for new international students seeking a graduate or undergraduate degree. The scholarship covers 50 percent of the total of in and out-of-state tuition and maintenance fees only. No additional fees or costs are covered. The scholarship award can only be used for study at ETSU.

East West Center Graduate Degree Scholarships
The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship provides funding for up to 24 months for Master’s or Doctoral degree study for graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the U.S. to participate in the educational, residential, and leadership development programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai’i.

Emory College Scholarships
Emory College offers need-based financial aid awards to a select group of international students each year. As well, international applicants are encouraged to apply for merit-based scholarships through the Emory University Scholars Program (November 15 deadline).

Illinois Wesleyan University Scholarships
Merit-based scholarships are offered to qualified international applicants with outstanding academic achievement and test scores on the required entrance exams. These awards range from $10,000 to $25,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years.  In addition, two full-tuition President’s International Student Scholarships may be awarded each year to two highly qualified international students.

Iowa State University International Merit Scholarships
The International Merit Scholarship is awarded to well-rounded students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement, and outstanding talent or achievements in one or more of the following areas: math and sciences, the arts, extracurricular activities, community service, leadership, innovation, or entrepreneurship.  The awards range from $4,000 to $8,000 and are renewable.

Michigan State University International Scholarships
Michigan University provides a limited number of scholarship and grants to deserving international students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.  These financial packages are not designed to support your full academic program at MSU.

New York University Wagner Scholarships
The merit scholarships are offered to a limited number of admitted students each application cycle, including international students.  The scholarships are partial to full tuition scholarships ranging from $36,000-$70,000.

Oregon University Scholarships
Each year, the University of Oregon awards more than one million dollars in financial aid and scholarships to international students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. One of their scholarship programs is the ICSP Scholarship which awards 30–40 competitive scholarships to international students each year. Scholarships apply to tuition only and range from $9,000–$27,000 per year.

Wesleyan University Scholarships
Wesleyan University offers limited scholarships for international students and is awarded on the basis of both exceptional qualifications and demonstrated need. In addition to the 11 Asian students who are awarded yearly under the Freeman Asian Scholars Program, they provide financial assistance to approximately 15 international students from a pool of over 400 such applicants.

University of the West Scholarships
The Lotus Scholarship (the Scholarship) is awarded to students who achieve high academic standards and demonstrate a financial need in order to attend University of the West (UWest). The Scholarship awards up to $5,000 or up to $10,000 annually to each successful applicant to apply toward his or her tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, and other expenses required for attendance at UWest.

Mani Mann Fellowship For Music

Mani Mann Fellowship - in Hindustani Classical Music is awarded to young musicians to study and learn under the tutelage of an acclaimed guru of Indian Classical Music.

Objective : This Fellowship has been instituted to encourage promising young artists to advance in their field. This fellowship will enable the recipient to have the resources and time to dedicate to the art.

Eligibility : The Fellowship is only open to Indian Nationals in the age group of 25 to 40.

While this fellowship specially encourages women applicants, all proposals that further the objectives of the program are welcome. The applicant must hold a degree/diploma from a recognized university or institution in the field and/or the candidate should have at least ten years of initial training in Indian classical music. The fellow would be required to have given at least 2-3 solo performances to his/her credit in recognized forums.

The candidate will be required to take guidance from another senior guru and enhance the existing style. It would be a residency programme for a period of three months, which can be spread over the period of one year. This will require the candidate to take consent from his/her current guru and the guru he/she would want to go to.
Terms : The duration of the Fellowship will be one year. The grant of Rs. 100,000 will be given in two phases; the first installment at the commencement of the award and the second installment after the submission of your complete project report when the candidate may be requested to give a vocal recital. A short mid-term progress report will be required.
Agreement
The applicant will have to sign an agreement with Sanskriti Pratishthan pertaining to a regular flow of work during the Fellowship period. The candidate should not be holding another Fellowship or working on any other project at the same time.
All candidates should mail their CV and a short synopsis of their project proposal to the head office address.
How to apply
Candidates should send their two page CV and a write up of approximately 500 words explaining their project. Full postal and telephonic contact details together with any E-mail id should be submitted to facilitate contact. Few samples of previous work, project or performances should be submitted. The names and contact addresses/telephones of two referees should also be sent.
The application should bear the title 'Mani Mann Fellowship' on the envelope when sent by post and in subject line if sent through email on fellowships@sanskritifoundation.org

Qualifications
To receive the undergraduate scholarship, a recipient must:

• be a citizen of India and have attended secondary school in India;

As long as you have financial need, we are committed to providing you with Tata Scholarship funding for the number of semesters required for a student to complete an undergraduate degree. With the exception of the five-year program in architecture, which requires ten semesters of full-time enrollment, we will provide up to eight semesters of funding. Funding for additional semesters due to double majors or dual degrees is not available.
Application Process
Undergraduate applicants will be eligible for consideration for the Tata Scholarship if they have completed the admission application and have applied for financial aid. All undergraduate applicants must apply for financial aid by completing the financial aid application process for international students.
